History of New Dawn
On February 24, 2004, a friend by the name of Dr Randall Maxey hosted an organizational meeting in his office for a church plant called New Dawn Christian Village. Thirty-four prospective members for this highly anticipated venture were in attendance. By way of a power point presentation, the vision for this new ministry was explained in detail. The commitment and enthusiasm of the people was extremely high. Following that meeting, while waiting for the Lord to confirm a launch date, over the next 6 months a Bible Study was conducted at the home of Peggy Matthews, led by Pastor Frank. During this period, the Lord communicated the opening date would be September 19, 2004. It was an exciting adventure we were about to undertake as one meeting after another was held to further clarify the mission of the ministry. Then, beginning August 18th, New Dawn held the first of its now very popular and fast building Mid-Week, Prayer- Worship & Bible Study Assemblies.
New Dawn Christian Village, a place where the living Word is lifting lives, was finally birthed through the vision entrusted by God to Pastor Frank E. Wilson, D.Div. The ministry officially launched on September 19, 2004, with more than 400 guests, well-wishers, and prospective members present. It was an amazing celebration in which people from all over the country attended.
Today, New Dawn is experiencing very rapid and healthy growth. Many are drawn by the diverse, caring congregation of baptized, Spirit-led, bible-based believers. Pastor Frank and his wife Lady P.B., along with a dynamic staff of 15, aided by a strong core of volunteer workers, are actively committed to equipping their congregation to plant the Word, grow the Church, spread the Message, and make disciples while modeling the Kingdom of God in their personal lives. The ministry’s motto says, “NDCV is a place where people purpose to know and care about one another.”
During the first 6 months, Pastor Frank baptized nearly 40 new converts. The membership continues to grow with a current active membership of near 480. NDCV has a thriving Sunday morning church school ministry, a Marriage ministry, Singles, Young Women, Children, Youth and Nursery ministries.
The leadership consists of one Senior Pastor, 9 deacons, the Executive Leadership Council, Board Of Elders, numerous committees, the worship team, logistical crew, audio and video team, ushers, greeters, SWAT/SSLK women ministries, Outreach Ministries, Man2Man men's ministry, and Manformation, a Rites Of Passage training for young men.
The ministry rehearses regularly many mottos, but when it comes to serving God at New Dawn Christian Village, excellence is not a goal, it’s a standard. New Dawn Christian Village meets each Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Frank D. Lanterman High School Auditorium, located at 2328 St. James Place, near Figueroa and Adams Blvd. Mid-Week Bible study, prayer, and worship, is held each Wednesday from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the school’s teacher’s lounge.
